January 28: It Is Okay To Take A Break

Sometimes we need to take a break.  We need to slow down and rest so that we have the energy and wherewithal to continue on, optimized, healed, rested, strong,  and at our best.

Sometimes, we have to slow down to speed up.

A bow that is ALWAYS drawn, or ALWAYS strung, will eventually lose its effectiveness, and forevermore be incapable of shooting an arrow at its most optimum potential.

Our massive gains are made during the rest and recovery periods.

Unwind, but don’t unravel.

We can do something that relaxes us, empowering us to heal and re-energize,  just long enough to be effective and to recharge our batteries, so that we can come at tomorrow with full force and continue on, progressing, improving, evolving, and contributing more than ever!

What are the activities that recharge YOU the most?

Today, if I need to, I will unwind, relax, and take a break.  I will set all the work I want to get done aside just for the amount of time necessary to rest, recuperate, re-energize, and recharge my batteries-then I will KEEP GOING.

January 27: Building Self-Respect and Pride in Oneself

I think it is important for each of us to learn, to remember, and to practice, being proud of ourselves.  Every thought we think and every action we take is our choice.  The thoughts we choose, and the consequences from each of these thoughts and actions, are OUR responsibility.  We can consistently think things and do things which will elicit pride in ourselves, always.  Good thoughts and good choices, practiced daily and consistently to the best of our ability for that day, will grow and evolve us into the best possible version of ourselves.

The interesting thing is that when we are proud of ourselves and appreciate ourselves, not only do we stop seeking these things from others, but we begin thinking, acting, creating, and attracting from a different place WITHIN, and life truly becomes magical.

Each of us has something to be proud of, something that makes us feel important and significant, and which empowers us to contribute to others and add value to this world in some way.

What are the things you are most proud of so far in YOUR life?

When we consistently do hard things, we build self-respect and character.  We build credibility with ourselves.  One way to be proud of ourselves is to challenge ourselves with difficult tasks or the achievement of goals, in order to consistently step out of our comfort zone, to grow, improve, and evolve.  This can cause a sense of pride within us that is truly earned and deserved.

Today I will remember to be proud of myself, because I EARNED it, and because I deserve to be proud.  I will consistently focus on and do the things that will continuously make me proud of myself.

There is a podcast called, DO THE HARD THING, created by Jason Archer.  I highly recommend checking it out!  The episodes are short, and easy to listen to, and they provide inspiration and motivation to do the hard thing.  Type this into your search engine to easily find it:

January 26: Change and Improvement

In 2014, I started my life over with nothing.  It was a blank slate.  I happened upon these words from Jim Rohn:

IF YOU WANT THINGS TO CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE.

IF YOU WANT YOUR LIFE TO IMPROVE, YOU HAVE TO IMPROVE.

I quickly realized I wasn’t starting out with NOTHING, because I had the experience of DECADES with which to create something better than I ever had before.

Changing for the better is commendable, even if the change is so small it goes seemingly undetected, simply for the reason that with consistency and time, the effects of that small change compound.

Albert Einstein said, COMPOUNDING INTEREST IS THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD.  It is true with money, and it is true with the momentum we build through consistency of a change or an improvement in thinking and habitual actions.

REPETITIVE CONSISTENCY creates a compounding effect that pays us dividends in life that we cannot now imagine.   This is true with habitual discipline AND with habitual neglect.  That which we focus on expands and grows, compounding exponentially, manifesting in our lives with progressive acceleration.

One small, seemingly meaningless, change could literally place us upon a totally different, life-altering trajectory, that eventually changes everything for us and for those we love.

WE are in control of creating and manifesting the exact life we want.  For lasting change to occur in our lives, we must accept full responsibility for ourselves, our thoughts, our words, our actions, and our habits.  If we want things to change for us in our lives, WE MUST CHANGE.

We are co-creators and co-conspirators with the Universe.  We are the Alchemists of our own lives, responsible for learning how to practice turning anything and everything to gold.  We are the Architects, Designers, Engineers, and Builders of our own destinies.

The Universe was designed from the beginning to conspire on our behalf.  ALL that is happening TO us, is actually happening FOR us.  When we remember this, and learn to use it as leverage to create and manifest our realities to the best of our abilities, the Universe rushes right on in to help out!  When we consistently practice neglect, the Universe sends in the painful challenges of life to wake us up, and teach us the lessons we need to learn.   The Universe is like a wise father, who says NO when the child asks for that which he has not yet even tried to earn but is desiring to enjoy, but willingly gives to the child AFTER the child has practiced extreme accountability, already earning and deserving the reward, and no longer NEEDING it, causing an exponentially expansive amount of abundance.

Life was designed to be difficult, challenging, and hard, in order for us to grow.  When we do the hard things, we grow stronger, wiser, and better, AND THEN LIFE BECOMES PROGRESSIVELY EASIER.  When WE change, our lives change to match our contributions to it.

We can re-focus and re-double our efforts at ANY moment we choose.  We are getting there, slowly but surely.  As our inner environment changes because of the change in our thoughts, beliefs, mindsets, and perspectives, we begin to vibrate at a higher frequency.  As we consistently vibrate on a higher and higher frequency, our outer, physical environment will eventually catch up, and we will manifest and create the exact life we want in this manner, THROUGH ACTIONS.  Manifesting isn’t a miracle.  It happens through DOING.  The Universe manifests WHAT WE HAVE EARNED AND DESERVE.  It sometimes takes time and consistency, but we will get there.

Just as when we consistently do our best, our best consistently gets better, when we consistently vibrate at the highest level possible, the vibratory levels increase, attracting and inviting similarly vibrating objects into our realm.  ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS OUR VERY BEST.  Repetitive consistency COMPOUNDS the effects of our best, expanding it into MORE, and BETTER.

THE KEY TO CREATION IS TO KNOW WHAT WE WANT TO HAVE MORE OF IN OUR LIVES, AND TO HYPER-FOCUS WITH INTENSITY ON THAT.

There are two tools I have used which have been incredibly helpful in my own self-recreation and reprogramming process.  To learn more about these tools, google The goodinthehead Beliefs Project and The goodinthehead Habit Hacking Challenge.

Today I will focus on my goals and the positive changes I have decided to make for myself and those I love.  I will make any adjustments necessary, in order to make meaningful, purpose-filled, significant, and necessary changes I want and need to, in order to design and create the life I want for myself and those I love.  I will remain relentlessly consistent in these endeavors.

January 25: LOVE

“If your religion teaches hate, you need a new religion.”

The same is to be said about families, friends, clubs, and anyone you hang out with or spend any amount of time with, in my opinion.

Life is too short to focus on the negative, the disempowering, or the harmful.  That which we give energy, focus, time, and attention to , grows and expands.  Either we choose to be in a creative state, or a destructive state, through the thoughts we think, the words we speak, the actions we take, and the environments we choose to participate in.  Each day is a new opportunity to pick one out of a LIMITLESS set of environments, or to even create a new one.

That which we put out into the Universe is returned to us.  We choose what manifests itself more prevalently in our lives by what we choose to focus on.  We are literally the creators of our own realities.  WE render and project the realities we live, through our habituated perspectives, our beliefs, and our mindsets-all of which can be progressively altered, expanded, and upgraded!

Life is too short to focus on hate, when LOVE is but a thought away.  APPRECIATION of EVERYTHING usually leads to the vibrational state of love.

We don’t have to think away hate.  All we have to do is FOCUS ON LOVE.  If we think about what we DON’T want, we are still giving that thing our energy, focus, and attention, and so it continues to be nourished, and it grows.  When we simply shift our energy, focus, time, and attention to what we DO want, THAT thing will be nourished, fed, cultivated, and will grow and expand.  All else simply falls away.

We can choose to focus and to RE-FOCUS on the kindness, acceptance, generosity, peace, love, and forgiveness in our lives.  We can choose to always treat others the way we would like others to treat us.

I have learned through experience that it is important to be careful who we  spend our time with, but most of all we must be careful of what we are continuously putting into our mind.  We become like those we spend most of our time with, but we really become that which we think about the most.

FOCUS ON LOVE.

I may be incorrect but I don’t think that Jesus Christ was a Christian, that Muhammad was Islamic, or that  Buddha was a Buddhist.  These were individuals who taught LOVE, and the message resonated with EVERYONE, continuing to do so for centuries.  This message, this way of BEING,  and this way of living, is available and preferable to us all.  It is but a thought away…

Earl Nightingale teaches:

THE SECRET TO SUCCESS, AND THE SECRET TO FAILURE, IS THIS ONE THING:

WE BECOME WHAT WE THINK ABOUT.

Our thoughts are CREATIONS,

for they become words, actions, characteristics, habits, personality traits, environments, communities, and movements.

Today I will pay particular attention to what I am thinking about and what I am focused on.  I will listen to what people are saying and talking about around me and ask myself:  “Is the current topic of conversation or are the current reactionary thoughts running through my mind generated by the conversation, going to contribute to a life of kindness, acceptance, generosity, peace, love, and forgiveness?”

January 24: Deserve It

Only WE can honestly answer this question for ourselves:  Am I thinking exactly what and how I need to be thinking, and am I doing exactly what I need to be doing, to be deserving of exactly what I want?

Some of us just don’t want to do the work-and that’s okay!  We want everything to be easy and to come to us easily.  I know I do!  The problem is, it sometimes just doesn’t work that way.

Many times we may lack clarity about exactly what we want.  We are easily distracted, and that which requires our energy and attention never gets what it needs to manifest.

If we are truly focused, concentrated, and consistent about what it is we want in detail, we will truly become exactly who and what we need to be to align with and obtain anything we may desire.  We will think about it, talk about it, upgrade our self-narrative, upgrade our beliefs, up-level our skills, and do ALL of the things required of us to do, in order to deserve it, earn it, and keep it.  It’s coming, as long as we keep at it with intention and focus.

What is it YOU want in life?  A better or more fulfilling relationship?  A stronger emotional state and mindset?  A healthier body?  More money?  To travel more?

We can be, do, or have ANYTHING we want in this life.  We all deserve the best life has to offer.  This Universe is full of abundance and has been designed from the beginning to constantly conspire on our behalf.  When we earn something, and do the work required to align with and deserve it, WE WILL HAVE IT.

I was once speaking with a good friend, Clint Booth.  He said, “Isn’t it interesting when we self-sabotage?  All that is happening is what it is because we can only operate at the level at which we believe we are worthy and deserving of, that when something comes along that isn’t in alignment with how we feel about ourselves, we create the circumstances, situations, problems, and drama, that will ensure those things quickly leave our lives, thereby perpetuating and strengthening that belief.”

Today I will make a list of EXACTLY what I want, in EVERY area of life.  I will be as detailed as possible.  I will focus on thinking about, believing, and doing what I need to, in order to know I deserve what I want.

One of the most useful books I have read about upgrading Self Narrative, learning how to reframe reality and retelling personal history in more empowering ways is PSYCHO-CYBERNETICS, by Maxwell Maltz.  I highly recommend reading or listening to it!  YouTube and the library share is for free.

This short YouTube content contains the most important teachings from Ram Dass that I have so far encountered.  It is entitled, HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF.

January 23: Act As If

Have you ever heard the term, “Fake it til you make it”?

Sometimes, we all have to fake it til we make it. Something I like to do is Act As If.  I act as if I am already the person I want to be.

When we can visualize ourselves, 10 years from now, and CONSISTENTLY envision our greatest, most beautiful life we can imagine, and do it in EXACT DETAIL, then live today as if that reality is in the hear and now, magical things begin to happen in our lives.

WE RENDER OUR REALITIES.

CONSISTENCY creates a conversion and a convergence of circumstances that will serve and save us.  It will seem as though everything is unfolding magically, the stars are aligning, and we are just super lucky, but the reality is this:  When we are predictable, dependable, and reliable, through our consistency in thought, word, and action, and we do this at the highest level we can at all times, the Universe, as a co-conspirator, and a co-creator, is empowered to do so much more for us!  It gives us what we NEED, rather than what we want, and the Universe’s idea of what we need is SO much more incredible than ANY vision we could EVER have of what WE want.  We are limited by our imagination, thoughts, and vision, but the Universe is ever-expansive, and all-knowing, full of wisdom and love, wanting for us FAR MORE than we could ever imagine wanting for ourselves in this human form.

At work, I try to act as if the head of the company is right there with me all day long. I work as if the big boss was actually there.  I speak and act as if that person were right beside me. I behave in the most professional manner I possibly can and I do it every day until it becomes a habit.

At home I act as if I am the most thoughtful, kind, loving and patient father, grandfather, and husband I could ever be.  WHEN WE CONSISTENTLY DO OUR BEST, OUR BEST CONSISTENTLY BECOMES BETTER.

GOING INTO EACH DAY WITH INTENT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE GREATEST TOOLS I HAVE EVER DISCOVERED.

I like to decide upon a clear idea of what I think my idea of the perfect parent would have treated me like when I was a child and I act as if I am that parent.

I decide upon a clear idea of what I think the perfect husband would think like, behave like, and do for his wife.  I work hard to live up to my ideals and my standards and my ideas of that man.  Sometimes I ask for advice or feedback from my wife.  Trust me, guys, your wife will have feedback on what she thinks a perfect man is, but it is so important to live up to your ideas and to change or improve them as you see fit.  It is about becoming your best, not her idea of your best-BUT HONEST, LOVING FEEDBACK FEOM A SPOUSE IS THE BEST FEEDBACK WE WILL EVER RECEIVE AS HUSBANDS!

Over time, done consistently, acting AS IF becomes easier. It becomes a habitual way of being, and life becomes a game we play a role in that we decide upon.  Life becomes FUN, instead of challenging.  Envision the best possible version of yourself. What is that version of you like at work? At home? Driving in the car?  In a stressful situation?

Now imagine what the Universe wants and has in store for you, and magnify your vision by ten million.

This can be fun.  Try it out.  When we habitually act AS IF for long enough, it becomes our reality.

Today I will think about my vision for myself and who I want to expand into and be in the next ten years.  I will act as if I am already what I envision to be.  I will behave and act as if I am already the best possible version of myself.  I will step into the creation of a beautiful future and let go of ALL my past stories.

January 22: What If

What if?  -The two words that can empower us or destroy us, depending upon the words that form the questions right after them…

Reminder to self:  Don’t play the NEGATIVE “What If” game.  It immediately starts to waste valuable time, energy, and focus.  It promotes worry, anxiety, stress, FEAR, and needless pain.  It makes you over-think ANY situation.  Do not adopt the perception that your life has been something to regret in ANY way.  Instead, look at all you have been through as a blessing in disguise, and as something necessary to have experienced, in order to have expanded into who, what, why, where, and how you ARE, today!

To live a life of no regrets, utilize your valuable time, energy, attention, and focus, in a way that will help and empower you!  If you find yourself going down the negative, fear-based road to “What If,” start looking at all of the things you have to be grateful for.  Flip it, and play the POSITIVE “What If” game!  Focus and concentrate on gratitude at the start of each day.  Make a mental list of every little thing that is going right in your life.  You will be amazed at how quickly your focus and your mood will transform.  When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.  Up-leveling perspectives immediately begins to up-level our realities.  Thoughts creates feelings, and our feelings trigger thoughts to perpetuate and support those feelings.  Set yourself up with a daily, consistent gratitude practice at the VERY BEGINNING of each day!  When we win the morning, we win the entire day-it’s all about momentum.
Through a shift towards gratitude, you will be able to focus on what you need to do instead of worrying about stressful, overwhelming, anxiety-inducing things that  will most likely never transpire.

All we have experienced in this life has been to shoot us onto a trajectory that points us in the direction of expanding into our greatest opportunities for maximum personal gain, expansion, wealth in ALL areas of life, and abundance.  WE ARE CREATORS, HERE TO CREATE.

This life hasn’t been happening TO you.  This life, ALL of it, has been happening FOR you.  Maybe you just haven’t realized it, YET.

Today I will not play the NEGATIVE “What If” game and worry about all the things that could go wrong.  Instead, I will focus on the things going right in my life and the things I have to be grateful for.  I will create a mental time line of my life, acknowledging the difficulties, traumas, challenges, and struggles I have experienced, and realize the lessons learned at each of these seasons in my life, which have made me stronger, wiser, better, and more valuable to others and myself because of my experiences.

Neil Strauss appeared on Impact Theory to explain about how we can transform through gratitude:

January 21: Priorities

Priorities make life simpler.  When we think of our To Do list for the day,  we realize that sometimes there are too many things to finish in one day.  Instead of becoming stressed and overwhelmed about it, it is important to KISS.  Keep It Super Simple.  We can write a number next to each item on our list of things to do, from most important to least important, and work away.  If, at the end of the day, we remember it is about PROGRESS, not perfection, we will begin to feel accomplished, knowing that we did our very best.

For me, remembering that it is about PROGRESS, not perfection, and to simply do my best and to accept my best as good enough, makes it more likely that I will attack the list the next day, rather than being disappointed in myself, and feeling as though I am a failure for not accomplishing ALL I wanted to the previous day.

Choosing to believe we did our best is motivating and adds to the momentum we are constantly accruing, while choosing to believe we have failed, or aren’t doing well, adds to the accrual of the LACK of momentum we DON’T want to create.

We can’t jump to the top of a staircase.  It is much safer, more realistic, and effective, to climb the staircase one step at a time.  The best way to eat an elephant?  One bite at a time.  The best way for us to create a beautiful, fulfilling, meaningful, abundant life of wealth and love?  One moment at a time.  The best way to get things done and accomplish what we want to each day?  One task at a time, from most important to least important.  We’ve got this!

If we do the more difficult and more important things on our daily To Do list first, the day gets easier instead of more difficult, and this is incredibly helpful, as we get more tired, distracted, and possibly lose motivation throughout our day.

Today I will be mindful of my priorities by paying attention to what I do and which actions I choose to take.  I will start a daily personal checklist, if I have not already, of things I want to accomplish, with at least three things on the list.  I will choose to always do the more difficult and important things first.  I believe that by doing so, I will feel more accomplished, live more life, and create more quality time for myself and those I love.

One of my favorite content providers to follow regarding getting things done is Brendon Burchard.  Plug his name into YouTube, and you will see EXACTLY why…

January 20: Personal Accountability

This life is short.  This day could literally be our last.  If it were, would we have any regrets?  What exactly would they be?  Are they something we can start working on, right now, so they will not be a regret?

It’s time for a personal accountability review:

Look at all the goals and targets you have made for your life.  Can you honestly say that you have clarity about who you want to be in 10 years, where you want to be living in 10 years, and what kind of person you want to be?  What kind of people do you want to spend the majority of your time with?  Exactly what do you want to be doing to be contributing to the lives of those around you in a meaningful way?  Exactly how are you going to prepare yourself to take care of yourself and your loved ones financially?

What are the daily habits you have been working on, adopting, and implementing to help you achieve these goals and hit these targets?  Exactly how much time has been spent working towards these things each day?  Can you do just a little more each day than you have been doing, even if it is only 15 minutes more, consistently, each day?

Do you see any progress yet?  If so, then why?  What is it you have been doing correctly and successfully that you want to continue to do?  If no progress has been recognized yet, what are the exact reasons why?  What changes or improvements would bring about better results and consequences?

Every second counts.  Every minute matters.  It is through our sincere efforts, focus, and intensity, and the level at which we have chosen to practice these things each day, that we have manifested, created, attracted, and projected our current reality.  If we are not happy with the way things are going, accepting FULL responsibility and changing it will help.

Knowing and remembering that we are not victims of life circumstances, but rather we are the designers and manifestors of our own destinies is INCREDIBLY empowering.

Reminder to self:  Practice the art of EXTREME OWNERSHIP.  Take responsibility for ALL of your results in your life.  Remember, IF YOU WANT THINGS TO CHANGE AND IMPROVE FOR YOU, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE AND IMPROVE.

RESULTS DON’T LIE.

Today, and every day, I will be clear about what I need to do to become exactly what and who I want to.  I will remember to focus on the important things and exhaust my efforts in achieving my daily objectives.  I will continuously practice peace and alignment in order to manifest and attract all the needed components, people, situations, circumstances, and things to design my destiny and create my personal reality.  I will focus ONLY on what I want to experience MORE of.

I refuse to live a life of regret.

I will consciously and purposefully create and manifest the life of my dreams, one day at a time.

January 19: We Always Find What We Are Looking For

I absolutely love the statement, WHEN YOU FOCUS ON WHAT YOU WANT, EVERYTHING ELSE FALLS AWAY.  For me, that has been the key to my own personal healing, growth, expansion, and personal progress.  When I made the decision to spend ALL of my energy and time focusing on WHAT I WANT, instead of what I didn’t want, something magical happened.

EVERYTHING I wanted began to show up more often in my life.  It began to be the only thing I could see.  Sure, the reality may be that the things I DIDN’T want were still existing, but they were no longer in my mind, a part of my conversations, or a part of my life.  I simply no longer had the time, space, energy, or attention for them.  It quickly became obvious to me that the MAJOR key to creating the EXACT inner AND outer worlds of my dreams, and optimizing my life in every way for pleasure and enjoyment, was FOCUS.

Our brains are made to only see and seek out more of that which we focus on and think about.  Knowing this is incredibly powerful and when we use this as a tool to ONLY THINK ABOUT WHAT WE WANT MORE OF, that is exactly what happens.

We can choose to be mindful of our thoughts and conversations, and if the topics aren’t in alignment with what we want to experience MORE of in life, we can choose to refocus!

What are you focused on?  What is it that you choose to think about all day long?  Whatever it is, you will be getting more of that in your life.  That which we choose to focus on is ENTIRELY UP TO US, and that which we focus upon, think about, and talk about the most tends to manifest itself more and more prevalently in our daily lives.

Each day, due to GENIUS marketing strategies now implemented and used, as a result of DECADES of research on human psychology and behaviors, we are now BOMBARDED with deceptive, tricky, and highly impactful marketing strategies, all with the purpose of programming us to feel like we are lacking something, and the only way to feel WHOLE and COMPLETE again, is to buy a product.  REFOCUS.  If we choose to allow the distractions in, we are no longer focusing on what WE want.  REFOCUS.

In the INCREDIBLE book, THE RISE OF SUPERMAN, by Steven Kotler, he describes, “Flow Triggers.”  They are a list of things, which when practiced, guarantee most individuals will immediately enter a state of flow, which is a blissful state of relaxed, easy, HIGHLY impactful effort.

I’d like to suggest the idea of, “FOCUS TRIGGERS.”  This is a list of things, which when practiced and consistently repeated, will guarantee most individuals will enter into a state of focus.  When we are in a state of focus, we are in a CREATIVE state, which will absolutely contribute in positive ways to not only OUR lives, but the lives of those we love, and the lives of GENERATIONS to come.

To learn more about these FOCUS TRIGGERS, type this into the google search engine:

Wealth Blockers:  Overcoming Self and Living a Life of True Wealth

OR, to learn more about these Focus Triggers, please see my article about WEALTH BLOCKERS by clicking here, or go to goodinthehead.com, click on Good In The Head Blog, and then click on Wealth Blockers.

There are things we can learn to do which will trigger us to re-focus on that which we WANT to be focused on throughout most days, which are filled with distractions.  We can literally reprogram our minds to think, react, and behave differently, according to these strategic focus triggers we consistently, repeatedly, and purposefully implement into our daily routines.

Seek and ye shall find.  Whatever it is we are looking for, if we focus on it hard and long enough, we will find.  It will be the only thing we can think about, talk about, and be about.

Today I will be mindful of what I am focused on, and remember that more of THAT will be showing up in my life if I am focused on it consistently.

One of the most beautiful pieces of content I have come across has been a short presentation given by Dr. Bruce Lipton and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, during a yoga retreat.  It was entitled, SELF OVER SITUATION.  It has helped me to REFOCUS, when needed.
