September 13: What Should I Do?

Many of us struggle through life for years, wondering what we should do.  We are exposed to so many new things along the way.  If we have wise parents, teachers, and mentors, we have been advised to try as many new and different things as possible, and as a natural result we learn and have new experiences.  This is a beautiful blessing life affords us.  It allows us the opportunity to really LIVE, through experimentation and experiences.

As humans, if we are lucky, we have the dignity of CHOICE.  It is entirely up to us how to use this, and what to choose.

We are constantly being exposed to new ways of thinking, speaking, and being, and the more OPEN we are to these things, the higher the potential for benefit and enjoyment in our lives is.  As we are exposed to new ways of doing things, we are able to pick and choose which ways we prefer for US, as unique individuals, knowing intuitively that things that may work for others, may not necessarily work for US.  If we are free to choose to think, speak, and do as we wish, the possibilities of who and what we choose to become as humans are limitless.  What a blessing!

As we go along in this life, it is important to take personal inventory, all along the way.  It is also helpful to record our progress that we may later compare ourselves to our older selves.  Is what we are choosing contributing to the expansion of the light and goodness of ourselves and others, or is what we are choosing detracting from our light and creating darkness and unhappiness within us?

An excellent tool to utilize to expand self-awareness and self-acceptance is a personal project called, The Human Design.  You will only need three things to find out your own, very personal and unique, Human Design: Your date of birth, your place of birth, and the exact TIME of your birth, which can usually be found on a birth record or certificate.  Once you have these things, add the information into the page below and enjoy!

a Human Design

I love this question:  “What can I do and enjoy immensely, even if I am failing miserably at it?”

I’ve heard that wise people find a way to do that.  Eventually, they tend to create and live in a joyful, wealthy, abundant state.  That tends to happen when we repeatedly and consistently do what we truly love doing.

We all have the opportunity to find what we can do and enjoy immensely.  EVERY MOMENT is an opportunity to do so.

When we choose to do WHAT LIGHT US UP AND ENERGIZES US, our energy and enjoyment are never-ending.

Today I will take a personal inventory and search my heart, mind, and soul to honestly seek out the things I love to do most in this life.  I will also open myself to new experiences.  I will find a way to do MORE of what I truly love, creating a more enjoyable, fulfilling, meaningful, purpose-filled life for myself.  I know that if I do this I will be of more value, empowering myself with more energy and light, to be happier, and to help and empower others even more.

One of the most helpful interviews I have ever heard, which quickly made me decide to research this man and his teachings, came from Tom Bilyeu’s YouTube show, IMPACT THEORY.  It features Jay Shetty, and every time I watch it, I am blown away!

I wish you well on YOUR journey.  While it is a personal quest for greatness, evolution, and development you seek, as a highly unique and individualized person, experimenting with things that have worked well for others is so WISE, and AVOIDING things that have DESTROYED the lives of others is ALSO wise.  We can choose to use the experiences of others as a roadmap for our own lives, or we can choose to learn it all for ourselves.  Either way works!

September 12: Principles

Years ago, a friend told me a story about the kite and the string.

He explained how the kite can only fly when it has the help of the string to hold it up and resist against the wind.  He told me how the string could be likened unto the core values, principles, and rules we live our lives by, and how the kite could be likened unto us.  He said if we follow our rules, stay true to our personal principles, and live up to our beliefs, adhering to our core values, we will fly through life as the kite, high, majestic, strong, and beautiful.  However, if we didn’t use our string, we would soon be tossed about by the wind and eventually dashed about on the rocks below, becoming tattered, bruised, and broken, unable to fly again unless we were somehow repaired.  The string doesn’t hold us down.  The string FREES us to soar.

I’ve lived my life as a kite with a string and I’ve tried living without it.  I’ve been dashed about on the rocks of life.  I’ve been tattered, bruised, and broken.  I was unable to fly for a time.  Thankfully I have some incredible people in my life who helped to repair me, tie on a new, stronger string, and get me flying again.  I’m grateful to those people for their help.  We all need people, sooner or later, and this is why the relationships we choose to cultivate and the environments we choose to manufacture and live in are so important.  The principles, rules, boundaries, disciplines, practices, strategies, and clarity by which we intentionally choose to live each moment of our lives is what truly makes us free.

MINDSET MATTERS  CHARACTER COUNTS.

Today, and always, I will try to be wise, learning my lessons from the mistakes of others.  I will always be proud of the fact that I am consistently living out my life to the very best of my abilities.

PRINCIPLES is a book written by Ray Dalio, in which he explains the importance of principles really well.  When we choose to live each moment of our lives intentionally, and with purpose, by choosing the principles by which we guide our decisions in our lives, the outcomes and results are predictable.  I highly recommend diving deeply into this man’s mind and his world, as he is considered one of the world wealthiest men to ever exist-in ALL areas of life.

September 11: Simplicity

How much stuff do we REALLY NEED to be truly happy?

When I was younger, I wanted lots of things.  Now, I have lots of things, but I came by them through acquiring lots of debt and years of hard work.  Now that I am older, I want only the things I truly NEED, WITHOUT the debt.
Our attachment to things can result in less FREEDOM.

We are a nation of consumers.  The clever and highly advanced advertising agencies make billions of dollars every year, having done research for DECADES on how to trick, manipulate, and reprogram the minds of the general population into handing over money for things it doesn’t actually need.  Sometimes our wants and needs get out of balance.

After listening to the audio book, THE POWER OF HABIT, by Charles Duhigg, which was recommend to me by my son, Drake, I entered into an alternate reality of awareness I had never before experienced.  It solidifies exactly HOW the advertising industry destroys a sense of self, and uses HABITS to reprogram people’s ACTIONS to align with THEIR best interests, rather than the best interests of the individual, let alone the best interests of the collective whole that we are ALL a part of.

The Power of Habit can be found for free on YouTube in audio version.

GREED DESTROYS ALL THAT ONLY LOVE CAN HEAL.

THERE IS ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE, but not if the FEW greedily hold onto ALL of it.

There is much to be said about a life of simplicity, in which we are wise enough to focus on and meet our needs and not worry so much about all of our wants, which seem ENDLESS.  There are so many men, women, and children in this world who currently do not have what they truly need to survive.

When we are able to take a little time, come up with an effective strategy, decide on what we truly need, and make sure those needs are met, we are left with extra money and time.  Instead of too much month at the end of the money, we live with more than enough money at the end of the month.  We have the opportunity to invest our money and time back into ourselves and our families.  We are able to gift some of our excess to those in need who are currently incapable of meeting their own needs.  We are able to travel.  We are able to live without stress.  We have the opportunity to reconnect, practice love and peace, and find balance within.  We have the time and ability to focus on what is truly important to us.  Life becomes more and more fulfilling, meaningful, and enjoyable.  As the stress fades away, we are less caught up in doing, and more enjoyably caught up in BEING.  Our immune system improves, our bodies heal more rapidly, and we enjoy a higher level of healthy, balanced living.

Living a simple life can be a beautiful thing.  When we stop caring to impress others with our overly-abundant lifestyle, seeking out validation by showing others how hard we have worked and all we have gained, and instead begin to really be present and enjoy life, experiences, and the beautiful times we have and enjoy with the people we love, life becomes more meaningful and more beautiful.  We have more to give.

Just think what would happen if we all made the true beauty of simplicity a priority, making sure the NEEDS of everyone were more of a priority than feeding THE GREED MACHINE.

Today I will think about how I can simplify.  I will think on, and differentiate, between my needs and my wants.  I will answer the questions, “How can I make my life more meaningful and fulfilling through simplifying, and meeting only my true needs?  How much more time and energy would I then have for contributing to others and creating something beautiful and lasting within myself?”

By the end of his life, Jim Rohn had given lectures to and spoken with MILLIONS of people, advising them on the very best practices of life that would lead to the most optimal, incredibly enjoyable, fulfilling, purpose-filled life possible.  He explains in ANY of his  recorded content how to upgrade enjoyment in life.  Fair warning:  Doing the things he suggests daily, and consistently will change who we are at a very foundational level.  These things seem so easy that hardly anyone pays attention, but they WORK.

One of my favorite books by Jim Rohn is, 7 STRATEGIES FOR WEALTH AND HAPPINESS.  The audio version is FREE on YouTube!  You’ll want to have a pen and paper available as you listen to this book.

September 9: Just DO It!

The path to consistent personal improvement, progression, and enlightenment has a lot to do with mindset and action.

Mindset + Action = Progression.

Progression = Happiness, Meaning, and Fulfillment.

Happiness, Meaning, and Fulfillment are feelings we all benefit from; therefore, Mindset and Action are of great importance.

We rarely WANT to go to the gym at the end of a long work day.  Waking up early for a brisk walk before we start our day can be a daunting task.  Sometimes it is easier to go through a drive-through for fast food, rather than using the time and expending the energy to prepare a healthy meal.  We may be exhausted.  When we just do it, regardless, and force ourselves to take action and do these hard things anyway, no matter how depleted we feel, we usually don’t regret making the decisions that are in alignment with what we believe.  We don’t hold space for regret and self-loathing towards ourselves after making what we perceive to be good decisions.  Doing things we don’t particularly feel like doing, but that we know are the optimal things for us to do, usually benefits us in many ways-sometimes in ways we don’t even realize.

REMAIN RELENTLESS.  PRACTICE PERSISTENCE.

I think that choosing not to beat ourselves up if we DON’T do the most optimal things for ourselves at all times is ALSO of great importance, as how we feel consistently creates the chemical cocktails that will interact with anything and everything we do and ingest, ALSO telling our bodies how to repair, and also sending out the magnetic pulses of how we feel to give information of what people, situations, circumstances, and things to attract back to us.

DOING, THINKING, and FEELING, in the most optimal ways possible, AT ALL TIMES, is a great way to consistently re-create the life and personal reality of our dreams.

We build up momentum with these good decisions and acting upon them consistently.  We feel a sense of pride, accomplishment, and a higher level of progress.  All of these things naturally lead to a higher level of self-esteem, and we see ourselves as even better than we were at whatever we do.

Sometimes, even though I know I will regret it the next day, I make a decision to go to a donut shop or to eat poorly at a family gathering.  These decisions are usually made when I am so tired that I am not thinking straight or in physical pain and seeking temporary relief.  I revert back to the old ways of comfort acquisition, and eat the comfort foods.  The next day, I do regret it.  The way it makes me feel physically and emotionally is never worth it, but instead of beating myself up about it, I recommit.  I look at it as it is, rather than letting this one less optimal decision define me.  It is a reminder of what I want to accomplish and who I want to be, and because I know that this decision, which was hastily made in a moment of extreme exhaustion and physical pain, will not help me do and be those things, I recommit to the things which WILL help and empower me.  Sometimes, bad decisions and their outcomes or results are a great tool we can use for awareness, and to remind us of where we were, and to take better care of ourselves so that we are not triggered, and slip into old, familiar, destructive patterns.

When we don’t do anything, nothing happens.  Benefits and growth are rarely a result.  Value is rarely added.  Progression is less likely to be experienced.  We are always either progressing or regressing.  Which one would you rather experience today?  It’s up to us!  When we do the hard things today, we experience even more enjoyment in life later, as a natural bi-product.  When we always choose the easy things, life tends to become more difficult and challenging.

Today I will take action that is in alignment with what I believe, and I will be proud of it.  I will JUST DO IT, and I will not beat myself up for the decisions I make that are NOT in alignment with who and where I want to be, realizing the importance of HOW I FEEL. I will remember that what I feel constantly re-creates everything in alignment with how I feel.  I will look at poor decisions as reminders of where I no longer am and do not want to revert back to, and I will recommit.

Only A Half Of A Whole

At my very best, I will only ever be able to become 50%.  I was created to become a half of something whole.

In my youth, my young, inexperienced mind perceived this as a true teaching I was being raised with.  I adopted it as my truth and as a real belief in my own, personal belief system.  It was a major part of my personal philosophy for the first 42 years of my life.  I brought this “truth” into every relationship I ever had.  I looked to others to complete me, believing that if I were to become that 50% and was with someone else who was at 50%, together we would make 100%, and that would be the best we could ever be.

I replaced this belief/philosophy with a new one:  It is my job to become my very best at 100%.  My life is 100% my responsibility.  Nobody else is in charge of my happiness, contentedness, health, mindset, or any other aspect of my life.  It is nobody’s job to save me or complete me.  I must become whole and complete on my own.

Later, after working hard to become whole on my own and adopting a new set of beliefs/philosophies, my life became better.  I realized that 100+100=200.  That is much better than 50+50=100!  Imagine a life in which the results, happiness, meaning, and purpose doubles!  It was then I realized that at my best, if I were to meet someone else at their best, together we could become 200%.

This turned out to also be a false belief.  While I did believed it, however, the quality of women I began to look at changed.  My perspectives changed.  My rules and expectations and boundaries changed.  As I progressed and improved my mindset/beliefs/philosophies, I wanted to surround myself with like-minded people.  As I did, my life became exponentially better.  I realized that being around certain people wasn’t addition.  It was a multiplier.  When I was blessed to start a relationship with a woman who was trying to be her best at 100% as I was, I realized that we were not going to equal out to 200% together.  Being with her has been a multiplier in my life, and her 100% 100% from me has become 10,000%!

The belief/philosophy of 100+100=200 has now been replaced with it is better to have 100X100=10,000.  I credit this idea to the wife of Grant Cardone.  I first heard of it in an interview featuring them as a power couple.  Here is that interview if you are interested:

Environment matters!  Ed Mylett explains how the experience of being around people who are at a higher level than us is like being in a room with a higher temperature.  When we are cold, it is desirous and beneficial for us to warm up.  In order to do so, we have to raise the thermostat.  The way we do this in life is to surround ourselves with people who are warmer than us.

Beliefs work the same way.  At any time in our life we can raise the thermostat and live in a totally different environment.

Isn’t it interesting how a belief we cling to and hold on to can harm and hurt us for decades?  It’s crazy how we can suffer needlessly for years in severe emotional and mental pain because of how we perceive a belief or a philosophy we have adopted into our lives.  The opposite is also true.  If our personal belief system and our personal philosophy has been well thought-out and adhered to, it can benefit us a great deal!

There came a time in my life when I realized some of my personal beliefs and philosophies I had been living my entire life by weren’t benefiting me as much as they could.  With this realization, I went to work.  I rolled up my sleeves and made a line down the middle of a piece of paper and under the title, “Old Beliefs,” I wrote down all of my beliefs and philosophies.  Slowly, over the span of months, I then wrote down new beliefs and philosophies on the other side of the paper and labelled them, “New Beliefs.”  I wanted to adopt new, beneficial beliefs and philosophies into my life which would be more beneficial, make more sense to me, and add value to my life and to the lives of those around me.  The more I worked on this, the more things seemed to fall into place for me.  I became happier.  I became healthier.  I became less stressed out.  I began to enjoy my life so much more.

It is my job to become my very best at 100%.  My life is 100% my responsibility.  Nobody else is in charge of my happiness, contentedness, health, mindset, or any other aspect of my life.  It is nobody’s job to save me or complete me.  I must become whole and complete on my own.

Every day we are blessed or lucky enough to wake up just one more time is an opportunity to create a small, incremental improvement in our mindset/belief system/personal philosophy.  How many more days are you going to wake up before your life is over?

Will you look back on your last day and be proud of what you created?  What are you doing every day to create the version of yourself you want to eventually become?  What are you doing every single day to create the exact life you want?

ONLY RESULTS MATTER.

Talk is cheap.  The road to hell is paved with good intentions.  Take action.

Consistency is the KEY.

September 8: Bad Days

Imagine if we all worked at improving our mindset, as much as professional bodybuilders worked on their muscles!  To become bigger, stronger, wiser, more experienced, and better at a skill, we must exhaust ourselves, tearing muscles apart, killing off weaker cells, then rest and recover, to allow for regrowth into a higher level.  The mind works in exactly the same way.

“I have bad days.  But that’s okay. I used to have bad years.” -Anonymous

In Melody Beatties’s book, “The Language of Letting Go,” she writes:

Sometimes, the old feelings creep back in.  We may feel fearful, ashamed, and hopeless.  We may feel not good enough, unlovable, victimized, helpless, and resentful about it all.  This is codependency, a condition some describe as “soul-sickness.”

A return to the old feelings doesn’t mean we’re back to square one in our recovery.  They do not mean we’ve failed at recovery.  They do not mean we’re in for a long, painful session of feeling badly.  They just are there.

Sometimes we get triggered.

One time, I was triggered at work.  My body was in so much pain that my mind went dark.  It went dark fast!  It was unexpected and terrifying.  After 15 years of complete darkness, hopelessness, medications, and suicidal ideation on a daily basis, as well as a handful of suicide attempts, I then made changes that resulted in a four-year stretch of much-needed relief with NO thoughts of ending my life or overwhelming feelings of hopelessness.  For that four years I implemented some basic, daily changes, stopped taking all prescribed medications (lithium and antidepressants,) added an effective, extremely helpful routine, and altered my mindset.  It was like being pulled out of the depths of hell and invited to dinner in heaven, then being asked to stay for dessert.

When I experienced this outer, physical pain, due to inflammation in my back, brain and body, and my mind went dark, I became incredibly scared.  All kinds of old thoughts flew through my mind.  All those old thoughts I had for 15 years started to come back:  “What if that old darkness is back to stay?  What if I’m in pain like this every day from now on and I can’t work anymore?  How will I contribute to the household bills?  What kind of husband and father will I be if I can’t even do that?  What if my wife doesn’t want me anymore?  What if I lose my house and my kids and nobody wants me around?”

This self-torture went on for hours.  I shut down, became exhausted, and crawled inside my mind for the entire rest of my work day, until I drove home with my wife from work and went straight to the bedroom to hurl myself into bed and sleep, to escape the pain, at 3:30 in the afternoon.  I didn’t want to tell her, or anyone else, that this had happened.  I was terrified that the darkness was back for good.  I felt ashamed and hopeless.

I woke up from the nap.  I was pain-free, rejuvenated, and back to my new, normal self I had been experiencing for that last four years.  The heavy blanket of darkness was gone.  Years ago, it would have stuck around.  It literally would have taken me months to recover from this negative thinking pattern.  In this new life and new environment of bright lights I had created in my mind through new thoughts, perspectives, beliefs and new habits which I had worked extremely hard to implement, the darkness was too uncomfortable to stick around.  I was elated!  I was so grateful for the new habits and the incredibly helpful routine I had been sticking to.

Periodically, I experience inflammation and extreme physical pain.  This tends to result in a general inability to remain positive, and a much lower level of willpower.  When my body is in pain, I tend to vibrate at a much lower frequency, but I am no longer afraid of the darkness and the pain.  Now, I embrace it, feel it, and know that it will not last forever.

This experience reminds me of the importance of sticking to my routine and remaining consistent:  Reading favorite quotes, practicing gratitude, eating better and taking some great supplements, daily exercise, positive affirmations, reviewing my goals, listening to inspirational messages, living the golden rule, being present with others, DAILY visualization and meditation, spending quality time with loved ones, and researching mentors to follow as role models had all paid off in spades.  Doing these things daily had empowered me to create a new life full of brightness in which darkness has no place and can no longer reside.

THE BAD DAYS ARE THE GOOD DAYS BECAUSE EVERY DAY IS GOOD.

I realized that dark days will still happen.  It doesn’t mean the darkness is going to stay.

I still have bad days.  But that’s okay. I used to have bad years.

We are not alone.  We are not the only ones feeling the way we feel.  We are all in this life together to empower, uplift, inspire, influence and motivate one another.

Today I will accept myself and where I am in my life.  I will remind myself that I am exactly where I need to be, and who I need to be, for today.  I will remember that I am okay and that everything will be okay, even if it doesn’t seem like it right this second.  I will keep pushing forward.  I will keep doing my best.  I will consistently do my best, whatever that is for today, knowing that as I do, my best will consistently get better.  I am a work in progress, and I always will be.  I am a diamond in the rough, but I am a diamond!

If you experience physical pain, like I used to constantly, every single day, there are incredibly effective ways to physically, chemically, nutritionally, and hormonally heal, and live a better, higher quality lifestyle, with more energy, vitality, and much less physical pain.  I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease at a young age, and for years, it owned me.  I researched things to do to heal from this, and hope that if you suffer from back pain, that you will also look into some of the things I found and implemented into a daily routine, and try them for yourself.  Here are the tools that have helped me the most:

Degenerative Disc Disease

Much of what I have learned about physical healing has come from the host and guests of the YouTube shows, IMPACT THEORY, and HEALTH THEORY.  I am also a massage therapist, have participated in years of physical therapy, and am an advocate for yoga, meditation, and daily exercise, be it two minutes, or two hours.  A body that is in motion, stays in motion, and a body in a state of rest, stays in a state of rest.  The mind works the exact same way.

If you are experiencing mental and emotional anguish, like I did for so many years, there are ways to heal from that, as well.  If you really want to stop suffering, your thoughts, words, and actions will change to reflect that commitment.  I promise you it is possible.  If it is possible for me, it is possible for ANYONE.  You are not alone in your pain and your suffering.  Keep going.  Your best is yet to come.  The key is in repetition, consistency, and daily practice of EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT FOR YOURSELF.  If you are able to look into your future, and visualize exactly who and where you want to be in five or ten years, and do this daily until you feel the feeling you will feel when you are healed and well, it will happen.  We cannot BE what we cannot SEE.  There is extreme strength and healing that comes through the practices of visualization and meditation.  What have you got to lose?

When we bombard our brains with the content of those we most want to be like, model, and emulate, we begin to create and inner environment that sends off an electrical charge in waves of vibrational frequencies that return that same energy back to us, exponentially.  This sends power to our physical bodies and brains in the form of usable energy, and this fuels us to act in a physical manner which is in alignment with the inner world we are creating.

Higher thoughts = Higher vibrational frequencies

Higher vibrational frequencies = Attraction of MORE of these higher vibrational frequencies

Attraction of MORE of these higher vibrational frequencies = Power and energy converted into an awareness of expanded ENERGY capabilities for the physical body

Power and energy converted into ENERGY for the physical body = An energetically, quickened, altered physical, chemical, and hormonal state

An energetically, quickened, altered physical, chemical, and hormonal state = Fuel to DO MORE and CREATE MORE

Fuel to DO MORE and CREATE MORE = A physical reality that unfolds, flows effortlessly, and easily aligns with the inner world we envision and create

A physical reality that unfolds, flows effortlessly, and easily aligns with the inner world we envision and create = Constant and continual progress, growth, improvements, and evolution

Constant and continual progress, growth, improvements, and evolution = HAPPINESS.  JOY.  FEELING OF CONTENTMENT, FULFILLMENT, AND INNER PEACE.

Every thought is a creation.  Every word is a creation.  Every action we take is a creation.  MAKE THESE CREATIONS COUNT.

Einstein taught that the eighth wonder of the world is compounding interest.  He wasn’t just talking about money.  He was speaking about something MUCH more valuable:  ENERGY.

Consistency, practice, and repetition, build momentum.  With this compounding momentum, there are no limits…

PAIN is inevitable and necessary, but it is also a useful tool.  Suffering is optional.

P – presence

A – awareness

I – insight

N – new thoughts, words, actions, and outcomes

-Jesse Elder

“How you decide to think about something will determine how you feel about that thing.  HOW YOU THINK WILL ALWAYS DETERMINE HOW YOU FEEL.” – Brooke Castillo

-We are capable of choosing our thought, and the exact content we wish to focus on throughout the day.  Distractions may bombard us, outward storms may arise to conspire against us, pain may consistently pelt us with its wicked blows, but our inner world is OUR responsibility and choice.  This ONE thing is something we DO have control over, and it is a daily practice.

Reminder to self:  EXPERIMENT WITH NEW EXPERIENCES.  The truth will manifest itself along the way-for now, seek our new tools of usefulness and effectiveness, things that actually work for you-in your favor, and on your behalf.

Lean into the uncomfortable.   Become comfortable with the uncomfortable.  Seek out change. THIS is what will benefit you the most in life.  Replace your old belief that change sucks and that it is painful, and immediately replace it with the thought that change may be EXACTLY what you have been needing to push you over the walls of fear and doubt that have been holding you back from all that you want and deserve.

Remember:  A body in motion stays in motion.  A body at rest stays at rest.  The mind works the same way!

Someday, you will also realize that your pain has been the greatest tool, and amongst the greatest blessings of your life.  You will look back, and be grateful for ALL OF IT.  You will realize, and know from that point on, that the Universe has been conspiring on your behalf, all along, and will continue to for the eternities to come.  All that has happened, all that is happening now, and all that will ever happen, is FOR you.

September 7: Being Proactive

This is among the greatest advice I’ve heard in the span of my lifetime:  Be PROactive, not REactive.

Have you ever worked for a large company which will keep doing what it’s always done, and then everyone in charge acts surprised when the same things keep happening and the company takes a hit or fails?  It is then that they react to the outcome of the problem that existed all along, instead of having been proactive all along.

Maybe we just get too busy, too distracted, or too complacent at work, in life, or in our relationships, to see the problems.  Some of us may just not want to FACE the problems, or even admit the possibility of problems.  That means acceptance that we are not as good as we were thinking we were.  That means work.  That means change and improvements.  We are tired, busy, stressed, or lazy.  Either way, the results will be the same.  Sometimes, the longer we wait, the deeper the hole gets, until we just can’t get out of the hole that we dug ourselves into without MASSIVE amounts of work or help that we may be too proud or ashamed to ask for.  Things begin to seem hopeless.  We begin to feel helpless.

A thought creates an electrical occurrence that triggers chemicals and hormones related to that particular thought to INSTANTLY activate, combine, and be injected into the blood stream.  Within only two pumps of the heart, these chemicals and hormones reach the entire body through the blood vessel system, which in adults is about 100,000 miles long.  This event then triggers within the body the related, magnetized feelings-ALL PRODUCED BY A THOUGHT!

Feelings are magnetic in nature, and the magnetic charge produced by a feeling can actually be measured as it pulsates outward from the human body.  This magnetic charge then attracts people, circumstances, situations, and things which are similarly magnetically charged, and repels all that is NOT similarly magnetically charged.  So what will happen when we start to consistently think thoughts of hopelessness, stress, and overwhelm, and begin to consistently FEEL helpless, stressed, and overwhelmed???

Tony Robbins teaches to be self-aware enough to detect problems early-on, and deal with them IMMEDIATELY, thereby killing the monster when it is still a baby, and easy to kill.  Letting a problem get away from us gives the monster, or the problem, time to grow stronger and more powerful, and become something unmanageable, and something that seems to be entirely out of our control.

Marshall Goldsmith asks a great question, and advises everyone tries it:  “How can I become a better?”  There is always some way we can improve and this question helps us to honestly and effectively get there.  How can I become a better husband?  How can I become a better wife?  How can I be a better employee?  How can I become a better student?  How can I become a better_________?

By asking, “How can I become a better _____,” we start the chain reaction of pro-activity which is needed, rather than avoided, to be a part of a solution, instead of becoming an even greater problem.  Sometimes this question sheds light on something we aren’t even aware of.  It is a helpful tool.  By asking HOW CAN I DO BETTER, we become more self-aware of where our work lies, and we become PROactive, rather than remaining in a RE-active state, and we start to design a personal reality where we think the thoughts and feel the feelings that can ONLY result in personal success.

It is ENTIRELY our responsibility to design the life of our dreams, and IT ALL STARTS WITH OUR THINKING.

Today I will look at one area of my life I want to be proactive in and I will ask, “How can I become a better___________?”

Marshall Goldsmith is an incredible teacher and coach.  People pay big bucks for his advice and tools.  Here, in this YouTube interview with Tom Bilyeu on the podcast show IMPACT THEORY, he gives it away for free:

What better way to start the day than with a perspective check that helps shift our focus towards something we believe is beneficial and will add to our own personal growth and improvement? Reminders like this have value, especially when reviewed at the start of a day as part of a consistent, daily, morning routine.
Each of these messages are meant to remind us of what we already believe to be important and beneficial in our daily lives, and to aid in the re-focusing process many of us don’t even realize we so desperately need. It has become increasingly more difficult to focus on what truly matters with all the many distractions which are now so prevalent in our lives.
This website was created to remind myself in some small way, each and every day, that Mindset matters, that Character counts, and that FOCUS IS EVERYTHING.
That which we focus upon tends to manifest itself in our lives, more and more. The more intense our focus, the quicker the thing we focus upon manifests.

It is my deepest desire that this website will benefit you as much as it has benefited me.

If this message spoke to you, helped you, or added value to you in any way, please share it on social media. Help spread the light!

September 5: Role Modeling

Jesse Elder described how his father, a teacher in the public school system, didn’t want his own children to attend public schools, and so he home-schooled them.  Inevitably, as part of Jesse’s daily curriculum, there was always a pile of books on the table for Jesse and his siblings to choose from, to read and study from.  Later, Jesse realized that his father had chosen from ONLY what he considered to be the most helpful, deeply contributional and educational books, and put only THOSE on the table.  While giving his children the illusion of freedom and choice, he still only allowed them to read from the highest quality authors, guiding and directing their minds with this highly intelligent practice.

As within, so without.  As above, so below. Trash in, trash out.  What if there is no trash?

PARENTS are the most important role models that young children can have.  It is within the first seven years of a child’s life that they learn the most, while their brains are in theta wavelengths, or in hypnosis mode, and most children will use the beliefs and habits they learned within those first seven years that were subconsciously programmed into their young minds to make every decision they will ever make for the rest of their entire lives.

Tony Robbins talks about modeling a lot.  He explains it as a helpful, useful skill to anyone willing to try it.  When we see results which we like and admire in someone else’s life, and then learn everything we can from that person about their mindset and what they do in order to get those results, we then know what it takes for US to consistently and habitually focus on and do to live the same or a similar lifestyle.  Once we know how they do it, we can ask ourselves if we are willing to do the same things in order to get the same results.  If we want the results badly enough, we will be willing to do anything.

”YOU CANNOT BE WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE.” – Jay Shetty

For YEARS, I experienced the extreme contrasts of life. Experiencing darkness made light more attractive. Experiencing poverty made wealth and abundance a bigger desire. Experiencing extreme depression and hopelessness planted the seed of desire deep within my heart to create a life devoid of it.

For me, being happy, healthy, abundant and wealthy in every way became a necessity, in order to be a better father, a more loving husband, and a more valuable man.  I began researching other people out there in the world who are already living the version of the life I want to, and then I hold space for that version of myself in the near future.

To ALWAYS be upgrading and expanding into the highest possible version of self is a magical practice.

I found some commonalities in all of the lives of those I view as always expanding, upgrading, and improving, and began implementing these common traits into a short, easy-to-follow, daily routine.  So far, modeling has worked wonders for me.  Instead of searching for THE truth, I began to seek out what was EFFECTIVE and USEFUL.  My lifestyle improved DRASTICALLY, as my mindset improved, and as I consistently and daily began to practice what has been serving so many others for YEARS, making them incredibly happy, younger, more vibrant, abundant and wealthy in ALL areas of life!  Truth has fallen into place as a natural bi-product of this process, allowing me to realize that the “truth” is subjective, and completely different and always changing and fluctuating for ALL of us.

We all have role models and heroes in our lives.  We all know someone who does well in some area of their lives that we would also like to do well in.  Personal development, relationships, finances, physical health and appearance, education, spiritual enlightenment, work ethic, drive, motivation, emotional intelligence, and social skills, are a few of the areas we can see others succeeding in.  We can succeed in any area we choose to succeed in.  Ever heard, “If I can do it, anyone can do it!”  Others show us what is possible.  Some people show us the impossible is actually possible, as well.

The  more we observe, the more we learn is possible for us.  The more we listen, the more we will hear.

I have never met someone I can’t learn SOMETHING from.  People are amazing!  They never cease to teach me something new, remind me of something valuable I have already learned, or show me what NOT to do and never waste my time with.

We are blessed to live in the information age, where all the knowledge we could ever need is at our fingertips.  We live in a time where it is increasingly easier and easier to learn anything we want to learn about in fun and entertaining ways.

Who are some of YOUR heroes?  Why are they a hero in your mind?  What attributes do you admire in others?  What are some things you see in others’ lives that you want to model or emulate in your own life?

“Here is the secret to success, and ALSO the secret to failure:  WE BECOME WHAT WE THINK ABOUT.” – Earl Nightingale

Many people are more than willing to share their personal stories, especially when we honestly and sincerely compliment them, ask them what their secret to success has been, and ask them for tips and tricks on how to model and acquire the same or similar successes in our own lives.

Remembering that we are unique individuals as we constantly try to improve, and accepting and loving our self along the way, is vitally important.

It is MAGICAL to be wise enough to say to oneself in the mirror each morning:

“I AM ENOUGH.  I AM PERFECT EXACTLY AS I AM, AND I CAN DO THE WORK REQUIRED TO ACQUIRE EVEN MORE SKILLS AND OBTAIN EVEN MORE THINGS.  MY BEST IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE GOOD ENOUGH, AND I KNOW THAT AS I CONSISTENTLY DO MY BEST, MY BEST CONSISTENTLY GETS BETTER.”

Role modeling and acquiring new mindsets, skills, and tools in order to become the best version of our self we possibly can, is an opportunity we are blessed with each day we wake up.  Every day we are alive is another opportunity to improve, progress, grow, expand, upgrade, and recreate ourselves.

We can be anything we want to be.  In everyone’s life, there is always room for improvement.  We can always become more of who we are in human form.  Acquiring skills and tools that have worked for others, experimenting with new experiences, then keeping what works in our favor and discarding what doesn’t, can be an immense help.

Today I will look at the best, most positive, motivational, and enlightening qualities in people that I admire.  I will research them, and if possible, I will talk to them, about what mindset and actions I can adopt into my own life, in order to improve in ways I want to improve in.

One of the best tools I have come across in researching others has been YouTube podcasts.  IMPACT THEORY, WOMEN OF IMPACT, HEALTH THEORY, THE ED MYLETT SHOW, THE LEWIS HOWES SHOW, THE TIM FERRISS SHOW, LONDON REAL, THE BE HERE NOW NETWORK, THE JAY SHETTY PODCAST, MARK HYMAN MD, JOCKO PODCAST, THE JOE ROGAN PODCAST, PROCTOR GALLAGHER INSTITUTE, and SO many others, are all awaiting discovery.  Each and every one of the guests on these shows are on the show for a good reason.  The hosts have researched each of the people before bringing them on in order to ask specific questions, the answers of which are meant to help everyone willing to listen and learn.  Having an attitude of openness and willingness to hear and try new things is incredibly helpful.  Also, having a small notebook and a pen to immediately write down anything that sparks curiosity, with you all throughout the day, can be a great habit to get into, right from the very start.

These podcasts guests and these shows have all inspired me to begin a podcast show on YouTube, called The goodinthehead Podcast.  Check it out and subscribe to be notified each time a new guest is on the show!

Robin Sharma teaches that, “To read a book is to meditate with the author.”  I have found this to be true for me.  Books are sometimes and entire lifetime of experience compressed into what we get to learn and read within a few days…

September 4: Uniqueness and Individuality

As unique individuals, only WE can cause the EXACT ripple effect we cause in our own, unique way, which will impact the masses and reverberate throughout the eternities to come, as they interact with the ripples of others, constantly resulting in new and unique collective creations.  The echo and the footprint we leave behind will last FOREVER.  It is up to us exactly what that will look like, and what kind of an impact we will have on generations to come.  It all starts NOW.

BEING LOVING AWARENESS, SOLIDLY CENTERED AND GROUNDED IN THE PRESENT MOMENT OF THE NOW, IS A GREAT WAY TO BE.

This way of being is just ONE of the LIMITLESS choices of a way of BEING.

We are all originals.  What we choose to create each day, how we navigate and up-level EVERY interaction, the structure or chaos of our daily life, our morning routine, and OUR VERY REALITY, is ENTIRELY up to us to constantly re-create in a better, more beautiful and enjoyable way, each and every day.

Have you ever heard the theory about snowflakes, and how there has never been, and will never be, any two snowflakes alike?  We can learn SO MUCH through simply observing nature.  We humans are certainly that way.  We are all unique and different in so many ways.  Our brains are complex biological, vibrational, electrical, chemical, hormonal machinery which house a soul and the WHAT we are, while allowing us to create the WHO we identify as, while temporarily inhabiting this particular physical body.

It all works in unbelievable, seemingly impossible, incredibly amazing perfectly structured and organized order, for our greater good.  The unlimited possibilities of ever-developing and evolving neural connections, as well as the constant fluctuation of chemical and hormonal possibilities, which results in constant change in our brains, amongst TRILLIONS of actual neurons which CONSTANTLY and instantaneously restructure themselves within the brain, ensures there will never be two identical humans in the existence of mankind.  There will NEVER be another you.

New science and research points to the possibility that neurons are actually soft antenna that accesses thoughts, ALL of which are EXTERNAL and nowhere to be found INSIDE us.

It baffles and confuses me why we all race around, trying SO hard to judge, criticize, condemn, manipulate, coerce, and control OTHERS to think, speak, and act, JUST LIKE US.  We want to think OUR way is the ONLY “right” way.  Nations and people of different religions go to war and KILL people for not agreeing. WHY?!

Some of the things that affect us are the environment we are surrounded by, the consistently repeated thoughts that we choose to allow to go through our minds, the choices we make, the words we speak, the things we do, the people we surround ourselves with, the content we focus on the most, and the ways we react to every situation in our daily lives.

The chemicals which are released into our bodies when we think, experience emotional responses and feelings, exercise, eat food, and drink liquids, are just some of the many ways we are all different and unique.  EVERY PART OF US is unique, down to each cell that is fluctuating and constantly in a state of change in order to maintain optimal growth and health.

All of these things produce a physical body that responds to the quality of these things, and the higher quality we input, the higher quality our bodies output.  This physical body responds to EVERYTHING we choose to create internally, to everything we ingest, and to everything we think, say, and do.

The information we ingest in the form of food and drink interacts with the quality of the information of our current set of chemicals and hormones INSTANTANEOUSLY produced by our current thoughts, and so WHAT WE THINK WHEN WE EAT is of HUGE importance.  When we have happy, empowering, grateful thoughts while we eat and our bodies digest a meal, WE BECOME MUCH HEALTHIER than we do when eating while stressed, angry, hateful, frustrated, bitter, and resentful.  We simply manufacture and release completely different chemical cocktails depending upon what we choose to think about.  WE are the creators of our physical realities!

When we think a thought, electrical reactions occur, INSTANTLY releasing and injecting a chemical cocktail that relates to that thought.  Within only two pumps of the heart, these chemicals have traveled throughout our ENTIRE BODY, producing FEELINGS related to that thought and those chemicals.  FEELINGS are MAGNETIC.  Scientists can now measure a magnetic field emitting away from us that our feelings create!  The field alters, changes, and fluctuates, according to our thought patterns.  This magnetic field then pulls in, or magnetically attracts, ALL people, circumstances, situations, and things that are energetically charged in similar wave patterns and vibrational energies of the magnetic field we create around ourselves with our feelings.

WE CHOOSE the thoughts that create the feelings that produce the magnetic field which either attracts or repels ALL things into or out of our personal realities, which are ALWAYS, CONSISTENTLY being re-created by the quality of our THOUGHTS.

WE ARE ALL CO-CREATORS OF THIS INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL PHYSICAL CONSTRUCT THAT IS CONSTANTLY BEING RE-CREATED BY ALL OF US, EACH AND EVERY MOMENT, WITH EACH AND EVERY THOUGHT.

It is only when we realize the truth about the importance of WHAT we CHOOSE to consistently think about that we can make better choices, consistently think higher quality thoughts, and re-create this construct in which we live to BE OF A HIGHER QUALITY.  If you can imagine a world of ONLY love, peace, safety, comfort, and enough food and abundance for EVERYONE, and think only thoughts of THESE things, feeling whole and complete, while NEVER allowing the distractions of this chaotic, tumultuous world to sway your thinking from these things, you are on your way to contributing to the actual re-creation of that world IN REAL TIME!

There isn’t just one right way or one best way to do anything.  There is only the best way for each of us as individuals, and I think we each need to figure out what that is for ourselves, through experimentation and experience.  RESULTS DON’T LIE.  As a part of our own learning process in finding out what works best for us as individuals, experimentation and experience is imperative.

Because we live in The Information Age and knowledge about anything is literally seconds away, ignorance and not learning is a choice.  We are so blessed to live in this incredible and amazing time.

I think it is important that each of us figures out the best, most effective, efficient, and beneficial way, to continually improve and progress, personally.  We can ask questions of ourselves during this personal quest for improvement and progress:  What is the best diet possible for me?  What is the best exercise program for me?  What is the best sleep schedule for me?  What is the best morning routine for me?  What is my idea of the perfect day and how can I create it for myself?  What is my vision of a perfect life?  What can I do each day to work towards living that while fully enjoying each moment along the way?  What do I want to CONSISTENTLY AND CONTINUOUSLY think about, focus on, and re-create?

I think it is important that we all realize and remember we are individuals and no one thing will work exactly the same for everyone.

It has been taught that CONSCIOUSNESS INFORMS ITSELF THROUGH ITS CREATIONS.  I think it is possible that WE are the consciousness that is constantly creating through every thought, word, and action.  If we were all the SAME, as individuals within this human construct, I think it’s possible that the collective consciousness that we all are would never change, be informed, learn, or expand.

Gregg Braden once said that CONSCIOUSNESS INFORMS ITSELF THROUGH ITS CREATIONS.  What better way for consciousness to inform itself than by downloading itself into TRILLIONS of life forms SIMULTANEOUSLY?  Think of the feedback and continuous data stream!

Through experience and experimentation, we take action towards living a life of greatness.

Today, I will think about what is best for ME, and how that could contribute to the greater good of the collective whole.  I will accept and embrace my uniqueness and individuality.  I will be proud of it.  I will be grateful for it.  I will appreciate and love myself exactly as I am.  I will love and accept myself just as I am, knowing that I am good enough, just as I am.  I will realize and remember that I belong here and will be unashamed as I continuously do my best at all times.
