December 23: Affirmations

Affirmations are defined as, “The action or process of affirming something or being affirmed.”  A positive affirmation is a declaration, statement, assertion, proclamation, pronouncement, attestation, and a personal guarantee or pledge, which is meant to be empowering.
Just as with knowledge or wisdom, if affirmations are not backed up and supported by disciplines and actions, they are useless.
When gardening, one could use affirmations such as, “There are no weeds.  There are no weeds.”  The fact remains, however, that there are weeds, and if we don’t get out there and pull the weeds they will take over the garden.  The weeds will steal all of the nutrients from what we are planting and trying to grow, and all that we have worked so hard for will be destroyed.
The same is true in our minds and in our lives.
When our minds believe the repeated affirmations they are consistently being told, through the RAS (reticular activating system) they automatically begin to search ONLY a for the people, places, circumstances, and situations, which will support those repeated beliefs.  Our minds were designed this way for a reason, and when we really understand this, we can use it to our advantage!
EVERYTHING we choose to consistently repeat to ourselves eventually becomes our personal reality.  What we repeatedly tell ourselves about ourselves will determine how we feel about ourselves, and how we feel about ourselves influences our personal decision-making process throughout each day.  HOW WE THINK, SPEAK, AND FEEL ABOUT OURSELVES RESULTS IS A PERSONAL REALITY CONGRUENT WITH THESE THINGS.  How we feel about ourselves will absolutely influence how we react in any given situation, how we interact and connect with others, our feelings of worthiness, what we choose to eat and drink, and will completely determine the overall quality of our lives.
HOW WE FEEL ABOUT OURSELVES AND WHAT WE REPEATEDLY TELL OURSELVES MATTERS, and if it is done intentionally, with a purposefully decided upon strategy, we can really set ourselves up for success, and stack the cards in our favor.
Here are some great examples of beneficial affirmations:
-I LOVE, APPRECIATE, AND ACCEPT MYSELF, FULLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY.
-EVERY DAY AND IN EVERY WAY I AM GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.
-I AM OF A STRONG HEART AND STEEL BODY.  I AM VIGOROUS, ENERGETIC, AND FULL OF VITALITY.
-I AM ENOUGH.
-EVERYTHING IS UNFOLDING PERFECTLY DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS TO CONTROL EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE.  I DO NOT BEED ANYTHING TO BE ANY CERTAIN WAY.  I AM ADAPTABLE.
When truly empowering affirmations are repeated on a daily, consistent basis as a part of a  morning routine, it can help a great deal.
Shanta Generally has written an INCREDIBLY empowering book series.  One of the books is called SAY IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT-AFFIRMATIONS REALLY DO WORK.  I highly recommend purchasing a copy on Amazon today.

Through repetition, we are able to reprogram our subconscious.  Affirmations are a reprogramming tool.  It is WHAT we are repeating and affirming that matters.  It will soon become our personal reality.
WE ARE CREATORS.
Research has proven that our bodies and minds, on a subconscious level, and even on a cellular level, hear the things we repeat, believe these things, and are constantly being reprogrammed by them.  Our brains, at the subconscious level, are hardware that listen to and believe EVERYTHING we tell them.  If, however, all we do is repeat these affirmations without following up with actions congruent and supportive to the messages of these affirmations, we will never fully benefit from the affirmations at the highest levels possible.
If we re-affirm our positive, empowering  health-related beliefs, then eat donuts for breakfast, stress out all morning at work, hit a fast-food restaurant for lunch, then come home and lay around on the couch and watch TV until it is time for bed, are we really loving ourselves?  Are we really perfectly healthy in the moment?  If we are consistently choosing these things and taking these actions, do we deserve to be healthy in the moment?
If we consistently repeat this type of day for months, are we really getting healthier and healthier and feeling better and better?  Are our actions throughout each day really supporting the affirmations that we are strong of heart and steel body?  Are we really going to be vigorous, energetic, and full of vitality, to the best of our abilities?  Will we really feel like we are enough if we know we aren’t really doing our very best?
Affirmations are a type of auto suggestion, a form of hypnotherapy, and a way to help, heal, and expand oneself.  The French Psychologist and Pharmacist, Emile Coue, coined one of the best and most effective affirmations for pain relief: EVERY DAY AND IN EVERY WAY I AM GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.  He recommended to his patients to repeat the at lest 20 times, DAILY, ESPECIALLY first thing in the morning and as they were falling asleep, resulting in a high level of pain relief.  It is truly amazing what the human mind is capable of through auto suggestion.
Nepoleon Hill wrote the timeless creation manual, THINK AND GROW RICH.  In it, he has an entire section on auto suggestion that is key in the process of becoming rich.  I highly recommend this book.  It was a book that Bob Proctor read every, single day for DECADES, and claims it was what literally made him a multimillionaire.
Today I will choose wisely the affirmations, beliefs, philosophies, and mindsets, which I want to repeat and reprogram my subconscious mind with.  Each and every day, I will act upon them with discipline, ensuring that these programs will take deep root in my mind and be proven through my body with ACTIONS.  I will remember that the quotes I read and repeat in my mind are REPROGRAMMING TOOLS.  I will be aware of the content I constantly allow to occupy my mind, and remember that what I repeatedly think will eventually create my physical, outer, personal reality.
One of the most inspirational, educational, and motivational shows I have come across so far, pertaining to improvement of health, is the show Health Theory, on YouTube.  Check it out!  If we aren’t feeling good, due to a lack of knowledge, bad habits, or a lack of discipline, we can’t really do our best at creating and manifesting the life we want and deserve, or help others to do the same.

goodinthehead is also on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.  Follow me there, as well, for daily messages, inspiration, motivation, and reminders.  Please pay it forward, and share this, and ANY message, which may empower someone you love or may care about.  It is through adding value to others by sharing and spreading wisdom, that we become more valuable as individuals, and collectively, as a whole, we all become wiser.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our realities.
