December 7: The Disconnect: Bridging the gap between thought and action

We all are smart enough to know what is good for us and what isn’t.  The more we experience the contrasting results of our actions, the more we learn and the more we know.  With this wisdom, we are empowered to improve ourselves and better the lives of those around us.

TO KNOW, BUT NOT TO DO, IS NOT TO KNOW.

Yet, for some reason, even though we have knowledge and wisdom already acquired, and we can see the possible benefits of doing things differently, we still choose not to.  What is the problem?  Why is there such a disconnect between what we know and what we do?

Personal success isn’t about what we know, but WHAT WE HABITUALLY DO, every single day.

“Success isn’t for sale.  Success is for RENT, and the rent is due EVERY DAY.” -Darren Hardy.  Publisher of SUCCESS Magazine.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY.

Have you ever seen an out of shape, fat, unhealthy nutritionist or doctor giving nutritional advice to anyone?  While their efforts and intent are admirable, wouldn’t you have more confidence in someone who actually practices what they preach?

I believe the answer lies in not just knowing, but more importantly, in doing.

How do we get to the point of taking action?

I believe it all starts in the mind.  That which we focus on we create, we attract, we manifest, and we project.  That which we focus on and desire requires us to act in the acquisition of that thing.

Once it is created inside, it is then ready to be manifested and projected into reality.  AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT.

There are MANY ways to begin, but the most helpful, effective, and inspiring content I have come across, so far, has been from listening to the book, THE COMPOUND EFFECT, by Darren Hardy.  I found it on YouTube, for free.  If you decide to check it out, I highly recommend taking notes.  It is a guide to reprogramming the mind and body, through habit recreation, which naturally and recreates every correlating outcome.

Other books I highly recommend listening to and taking notes that help to bridge the gap between thought and action:

The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, Atomic Habits by James Clear, 7 Strategies for Wealth and Happiness by Jim Rohn, and High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard.

Today’s challenge to myself:  Today I will do one thing, take just one action, that will improve my life in some way or help me achieve a goal that I have made.

goodinthehead is also on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.  Follow me there, as well, for daily messages, inspiration, motivation, and reminders.  Please pay it forward, and share this, and ANY message, which may empower someone you love or may care about.  It is through adding value to others by sharing and spreading wisdom, that we become more valuable as individuals, and collectively, as a whole, we all become wiser.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our realities.
