January 21: Priorities

Priorities make life simpler.  When we think of our To Do list for the day,  we realize that sometimes there are too many things to finish in one day.  Instead of becoming stressed and overwhelmed about it, it is important to KISS.  Keep It Super Simple.  We can write a number next to each item on our list of things to do, from most important to least important, and work away.  If, at the end of the day, we remember it is about PROGRESS, not perfection, we will begin to feel accomplished, knowing that we did our very best.

For me, remembering that it is about PROGRESS, not perfection, and to simply do my best and to accept my best as good enough that makes it more likely that I will attack the list the next day, rather than being disappointed in myself, and feeling as though I am a failure for not accomplishing ALL I wanted to the previous day.

Choosing to believe we did our best is motivating and adds to the momentum we are constantly accruing, while choosing to believe we have failed, or aren’t doing well, adds to the accrual of the LACK of momentum we DON’T want to create.

We can’t jump to the top of a staircase.  It is much safer, more realistic, and effective, to climb the staircase one step at a time.  The best way to eat an elephant?  One bite at a time.  The best way for us to create a beautiful, fulfilling, meaningful, abundant life of wealth and love?  One moment at a time.  The best way to get things done and accomplish what we want to each day?  One task at a time, from most important to least important.  We’ve got this!

If we do the more difficult and more important things on our daily To Do list first, the day gets easier instead of more difficult, and this is incredibly helpful, as we get more tired, distracted, and possibly lose motivation throughout our day.

Today I will be mindful of my priorities by paying attention to what I do and which actions I choose to take.  I will start a daily personal checklist, if I have not already, of things I want to accomplish, with at least three things on the list.  I will choose to always do the more difficult and important things first.  I believe that by doing so, I will feel more accomplished, live more life, and create more quality time for myself and those I love.

One of my favorite content providers to follow regarding getting things done is Brendon Burchard.  Plug his name into YouTube, and you will see EXACTLY why…

goodinthehead is also on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.  Follow me there, as well, for daily messages, inspiration, motivation, and reminders.  Please pay it forward, and share this, and ANY message, which may empower someone you love or may care about.  It is through adding value to others by sharing and spreading wisdom, that we become more valuable as individuals, and collectively, as a whole, we all become wiser.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our realities.
