January 30: Reactions

We can tell a lot about ourselves, and our current emotional state, by the way we react in any given situation.  It helps us to become more self aware, and is information instructing and inspiring us on how we can do even better.  Our reactions inform us how far we have already come and how much we have grown and improved.

Am I consistent in my mood?  Do I react similarly in all situations?  Are there certain circumstances that I need to watch for?  What triggers me and causes me to act poorly, and how can I improve this?

How do I act when I am stressed or under extreme pressure?  What comes out of me then?

I think it is useful if we choose to practice empathy and acceptance towards ourselves and others when asking these questions.  Sometimes, asking such questions can be difficult, as we don’t always like the honest, truthful answers that come.

There is a beautiful metaphor about an orange that Wayne Dyer shares.  To see this or listen to it, type, WAYNE DYER ORANGE METAPHOR, into the YouTube search engine.

However we react to any given situation, we can remember that we are doing our best and that is all we need to do.  The first interview created, featuring Lewis Howes and Marisa Peer on YouTube, is incredibly helpful in remembering that we are enough, just as we are, and we can always become more of who we are and do even better.

Today’s challenge for myself:  Today I will be mindful of my own reactions and accepting of others and the way they react in any given situation, remembering to practice compassion, kindness, and understanding, as we are all different and we are all in different stages of learning in our own personal life experiences.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our realities.
