July 14: Bombard Your Brain!

Which water would you rather drink:

Imagine a large, 6-foot tall, glass container, with a circumference of 8 feet, full of nasty, muddy, black water.  It’s in the middle of a green, grass field, on a beautiful, sunny day.  We have the goal of making the water clear, pure, and drinkable again.  What would happen if we put a teaspoon of clear water into it?  What would happen if we put a gallon of water into it?  Would it be clear, pure, and drinkable again?

No!  We would literally have to stick a powerful fire hose into the container in order to DISPLACE the black water with clear water.  To make it drinkable, clear, and pure enough to give water from it to those we love, we would probably run the hose into it, on full-blast, long after the black, dark, poisonous, disgusting, muddy water was replaced.

We can form the analogy of this large, 6-foot tall, glass container, with a circumference of 8 feet, full of poisonous, black water, to our minds.  After years and years of allowing our minds to be bombarded with the news, advertisements, negativity, anger, bitterness, resentment, destructive content, and pessimism, our minds may not be as clean and pure as they could be.  What comes out of us may damage those we love.  We encounter so many distractions in a single day that can muddy our minds and poison our souls. These distractions continuously and consistently draw our focus away from what might be more beneficial and valuable for us to focus on.

It is becoming increasingly important for each of us to accept personal responsibility for our minds and our thoughts, and take back control!  It is a decision we have to face every, single day.  Will we allow our minds to be controlled by outside forces that are perfectly comfortable with turning our minds into something full of poisons, making them muddy, and black, or will we bombard our minds with something clear, clean, pure, and useful to us in our pursuit of personal development, and towards the achievement of our goals and the creation of the lives we want?

We all have something in our minds that is dark, muddy, and poisonous.  Will we let the ones we love drink from that source every day, or will we choose to continuously pump clear, pure, helpful, uplifting, inspiring, motivational, useful materials into our minds, through a huge hose on full-blast, in order to truly benefit the ones we love and add value to their lives and ours?

What comes out of us, and spills into the lives of those around us, is what is inside us.

The choice is ours, and the time is now.

Today, if I haven’t already, I will put a daily, consistent plan in place to bombard my brain with the content I know will be useful and valuable to myself and those I love.  I will focus on that and let the rest of the content be displaced.

Listening to podcasts or books is FREE, and I have found it to be an EXCELLENT source of self improvement.  Absorbing the wisdom and experiences of others is an excellent way to pass time.  For a few great podcasts, go to the YouTube search engine, and type IMPACT THEORY, HEALTH THEORY, WOMEN OF IMPACT, THE LEWIS HOWES SHOW, ED MYLETT, or THE TIM FERRISS SHOW.

goodinthehead is also on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.  Follow me there, as well, for daily messages, inspiration, motivation, and reminders.  Please pay it forward, and share any message which may empower someone you love or may care about.  Through adding value to others, we become more valuable.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is everything!
