June 15: Greatness

We are ALL great, already, the day we are born.  Greatness seems to be programmed OUT of us through our misperceptions, perspectives, and beliefs as young children, then life offers us the opportunity to again align with it as we grow and progress in this life.

If we are around greatness long enough it will rub off on us.  The opposite is also true.  It has been said that the 5 people we spend the majority of our time with is how we can tell our future.  We will eventually become just like them.

As individuals in these human bodies, we tend to align with the energies and vibrations we choose to surround ourselves with.

We are the compilation of the people we spend the majority of our time with, the books we read, and the thoughts we choose to focus on repeatedly.

We all know of people who we think are great.  They are perfect examples of people who do things and live their lives the way we want to live ours.  We want to emulate them and we look up to them.  Many times, we put them on a pedestal.  We may envy them and the life they live.

Where did that great life they live come from?  I believe it started with an empowering mindset, productive habits, and consistent routines that can only result in the desired outcomes.

Listen to the first 10 minutes of this interview and answer the question, “What is GREATNESS?”

Matt Ridley writes:  “People who succeed are not any cleverer than you.  The adult world is not full of gods, just people who have acquired skills and habits that work for them.”

People are great for many different reasons.  Many times they are influenced by someone they thought was great and then adopted their mindset, began doing similar things, and working hard at improving their own habits and acquiring skills.  Yet others get quiet, and practice listening to the voice within, following the direction they are inspired to follow from within.  With consistency and time, they become great.

One thing I definitely believe:

TRUE GREATNESS IS NEVER ACHIEVED THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF CONFORMITY.

We must all experiment with different experiences and find what works for us.  Who is your hero?  Who do you consider to be truly great?  Whose life would you like to emulate?  Do the work.  Do the research.  Find out what made them great.  Find out what kind of mindset they acquired and adopted that led them into doing the things that make them who and what they are today.  Greatness is a JOURNEY, not a destination.

EXPERIMENT WITH EVERYTHING.  QUESTION EVERYTHING.  KEEP DOING WHAT WORKS FOR YOU AND ABANDON EVERYTHING THAT DOESN’T.

It is important for us to always remember that the more value we add to the lives of others, the more valuable we become.  Greatness is a unique and personal journey.

Today I will research MY idea of greatness.  I will ponder and decide upon the type of mindset I want to have and compare it to my current mindset and decide upon any CONSISTENT changes or improvements I can make or experiment with that will start me on my own path to greatness.  I will remember:  No matter who we are, there is always room for improvement.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our personal realities.
