June 3: Caring For Another

Tony Robbins teaches, “Get out of your head, or you are dead.”  A great way to get out of our heads is to do something for someone else.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our own lives and in our own minds that we become self-absorbed.  It is so easy to do!  The antidote is to care for someone or something else, consistently, even if it is just a few minutes a day.

Getting a pet is a great way to do this!  A dog, a cat, a turtle, a fish, or anything that depends on you to be responsible for them in some way is a great, positive, selfless, and helpful distraction from self-absorption.

We could choose to drop off a snack every morning to an elderly neighbor or a homeless person we see every day on our way to work.

Even having plants or a small garden is useful.  I prefer animals, and a kitty or a dog is much more fun to snuggle than a plant, but every living thing allows for an empowering energy transfer.

Caring for something or someone else releases endorphins into our blood stream, battles stress and fatigue, and can put things back into perspective.  It raises our vibrational frequency.  It offers us an opportunity to get out of our heads.  Doing anything consistently builds character, credibility, and self-esteem, but doing something consistently for someone else can be even more energizing.

Complimenting others is another great way to put things back into perspective.  Try this experiment for a month.  I did, and I loved it so much that I made it a daily, lifelong practice:  At the end of the day look at a note, stuck right where you brush your teeth, that asks the question, “Did you compliment someone today?”  It really helps you to focus on and think about complimenting others on a regular basis.  Try it out and see if something magical doesn’t begin to happen for you.

Life isn’t meant to be all about just us.  Life is also supposed to be about others in our lives and the connections, friendships, and bonds we create.  This is what makes life more beautiful, meaningful, fulfilling, and worth living.  These are the things we can do to battle depression, sadness, anxiety, and loneliness, and consistently create a life of meaning and value.

Today I will decide upon something, anything, I can do for something or someone else consistently, and I will choose to care for another.

Did you know that they have now published studies that prove that loneliness is more deadly than smoking?!  Serving others is the best way to ensure we are never alone in this world.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our personal realities.
