I was listening to an interview about a guy who is a speaker about the topic of, “Mental Toughness”. He has an incredible story. It is the story of a man with a wife and five children, who ran and successfully completed 50 iron man competitions in 50 consecutive days. He is called, “The Iron Cowboy”. The story behind the headlines isn’t as exciting, but very inspirational.
He spoke of having HUGE goals and a MASSIVE vision, then putting it on the shelf, after breaking it down into many small, consistent, daily habits that you create, over time.
All of the amazing, great things that people accomplish in this life usually isn’t because they are gifted or special. It is due to all of the daily, consistent, tedious, not so sexy, boring-as-hell things, that they choose to do consistently, which gets them to that point in life where they become great and amazing and can’t do anything BUT create great and amazing results seemingly easily and naturally.
It is always amusing when people talk of the, “Overnight success stories.” There is no such thing. Success can, 100% of the time, be reverse-engineered and broken down to years of consistent discipline, daily habits, and a ton of hard work and practice.
It’s a story worth checking into. It’s an amazing interview that inspires and motivates. Simply go to YouTube, and type, “impact theory iron cowboy”, and enjoy James Lawrence’s tale.
Today’s challenge for myself: Today I will make a mental or written list of the things I do daily, consistently, and without fail, that I believe will lead me on to an improved life and an environment in which I can add value and contribute to the lives of others. If I need to alter the list in ANY way, or upgrade it, I will.
