October 16: Control

In the year 2015 I decided to add something I found helpful to my daily morning routine.  I began to read a daily excerpt from the book, “The Language of Letting Go.”  This book is a way I remind myself, each and every day, to continue healing, keep things in perspective, keep improving, and to keep doing what I am doing.  It has helped immensely to create momentum towards creating more of what I DO want more of in my life.  It has set in stone some useful, new, and improved beliefs.  It has deepened the neural connections in my brain.  With repetition, it has deepened and expanded these connections.  Adding this daily reading to my morning routine has created a new network of neurons that strengthen each time I repeat or reinforce a thought, word, or action.  The neurons in our brains that fire together, wire together.

Thoughts repeated and focused on become actions.  Those actions, repeated and focused on, become habits.  Our habits become who we are.  Who we are dictates the quality of life we live.  The quality of life we live then produces the amount of opportunity for contribution and value we are able to add ourselves and to others.  When adding value and contributing to others becomes a habit, our hearts, minds, souls, spirits, energies, and our lives improve exponentially.  Succeed, repeat, then help others do the same.

“This is the secret to success, AND the secret to failure:  WE BECOME WHAT WE THINK ABOUT.”  Earl Nightingale

Here is an excerpt from Melody Beattie’s book that I love:  “Many of us have been trying to keep the whole world in orbit with sheer and forceful application of mental energy.  What happens if we let go, if we stop trying to keep the world orbiting and just let it whirl?  It’ll keep right on whirling.  It’ll stay right on track with no help from us.  And we’ll be free and relaxed enough to enjoy our place on it.

Control is an illusion…whatever we try to control does have control over us and our life…I have never gotten the results I wanted from controlling or trying to control people.  What I received for my efforts is an unmanageable life.”

SELF control is the only control we need to focus on.

Today I will focus on controlling the only thing I can actually control:  my mind.  If I don’t know how to yet, I will find useful tools to practice doing so, daily and consistently.  I will create an easy morning routine to follow as soon as I wake up that will jump-start my day and help create it to be enjoyable, meaningful, and fulfilling, even if the only routine I have is reading something beneficial for 5 minutes.  I believe a good morning routine can help create a great day.  It’s all about momentum.

One of the greatest speakers that I love to listen to, on the topic of self control, is Jim Rohn.  Simply type his name into YouTube, and an abundance of useful wisdom and knowledge will appear, that when applied will empower ANYONE to create a more beautiful, fulfilling, abundantly rich life.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our personal realities.
