October 19: Rest to Reset

When we are going hard and pushing ourselves, sometimes it is necessary and important to take a break.  Sometimes we need a reset.  The Recovery Period is actually often where we grow the most.

Some good ways to reset our mindset and keep things in perspective when we are exhausted are: resting, napping, making a mental or written gratitude list, and getting in some snuggle time with a loved one.

It is important to remember not to take too much down time, especially when we have a deadline in mind, but rest and recovery are important and necessary periods of our success and personal development.  When we rest, sleep, and choose to take some downtime when it is needed, we heal.  This healing process allows us to continue to go hard and continue pushing ourselves.  The more we do it, the better we get at it, until we are able to figure out our own, personal, optimal states, and how to get to that optimal performance state as often as we can.

REST, but don’t UNRAVEL.

For a more optimal life experience, we can choose to recognize when we need a Mindset Reset and do what we need to do to make it happen.  It will help us to be the best we can be in this moment, for this time, for this day.

Today I will recognize when I need a break or rest, and utilize downtime, so I can heal, recover, and recuperate, in order to keep going hard and pushing myself as far, as much, and as often as I can.

Shawn Stevenson has shed a light of the importance of rest and recovery in my life.  His teachings, practices, and habitual ways of being he has shared after DECADES of research has empowered me with tools I never would have learned about and habituated without him.  I highly recommend putting his name into the YouTube search engine, following him on Instagram, and enjoying his illuminating content.

Remember:  Mindset matters.  Character counts.  That which we choose to consistently focus on is what EXPANDS in our lives.  WE CREATE our realities.
